THE SAN PABLO BAY TRAIL

The San Pablo Bay Trail

Drive over the Blue Bridge, make a left on Azuar Drive, turn right through the gate – and into this open trail. Enjoy the exquisite panoramic vistas of San Pablo Bay, Mt. Diablo, the Carquinez Strait, and the East Bay hills, Mt. Tamalpais and the Sonoma and Napa Valleys.

This is a flat trail with two loops – one loop takes you to a seasonal wetland – where ducks and birds sing and mingle. The other trail invites you to look up at the blue skies and yonder.

The entire trail (round trip) is 4-miles long – benches are found along the way in case you wish to stop and capture a unique perspective on the Mare Island Naval Shipyard – one that even those long-time shipyard workers were not privy to.

Read up on the federally listed endangered species – the salt marsh harvest mouse. These salt marsh harvest mouse makes its home in the Reserve, so that means that the trail is off-limits to dogs. I would be remiss if I don’t invite you to come walk the serenity of the open trail – one you would surely enjoy.
